Our Story

It was a modern romance — one that started with a swipe in September 2023.

Kathryn (and Ryder, fresh off yet another failed puppy-training session) met Michael for a drink at Maison Pickle on the Upper West Side. After a brief seating misunderstanding — Michael being a gentleman and pulling out Kathryn’s chair, and Kathryn switching seats multiple times because she didn’t realize what he was doing — they decided to keep the night going and grab a bite up the street at Fred’s, a neighborhood staple. There, Michael introduced her to Prosecco Fridays, won Ryder over with a few french fries, and officially caught Kathryn’s attention.

After dinner, Michael walked Kathryn home, and while suggesting they do this again, Ryder saw his cue — wrapping his leash around their ankles to strongly encourage a goodnight kiss. The rest, as they say, was history.

From pasta-making classes and transatlantic FaceTimes to trips to Mexico, Boston, Denver, and St. Kitts; from Pizza Fridays (more on that later) to cocktail experiments, homemade meals (Michael is known for his spaghetti carbonara and a killer weekend egg sammy), Kathryn and Michael built a life filled with adventures, good food, and two very opinionated pups.

They moved to Harlem at the start of 2025 with Ryder and Lucy, creating their first home together — a cozy mix of laughter, love, and lots of snacks.

And then came the Eggs Benny. After weeks of talking about a specific brunch in Kathryn’s old neighborhood, Michael made (uncharacteristically) early Saturday reservations. Kathryn thought maybe this is it… until brunch came and went with no proposal, just (the best?) eggs benny. After brunch, they walked past her old apartment—the site of Ryder’s original nudge, where Michael had planned to get on one knee until Kathryn’s very chatty former building super ruined the vibe—and wandered into Riverside Park. They passed rose petals from someone else’s engagement, and when Kathryn joked, “Did you do this?” Michael didn’t find it nearly as funny as she did. Moments later, at a spot special to them, Michael suggested they take a picture — and then he proposed.

Everybody cried, a sweet stranger named Zoe (a jogger passing by) stopped to take photos, and that was that — a perfect New York moment to mark the next chapter of their story.

We hope that our wedding day is warm and meaningful, and that we’re able to share some of our traditions, love, and excitement with you!

One of Michael and Kathryn’s favorite traditions is Pizza Friday. Join them one day, or check out their recipe, here!

Apparently, a lot of Michael and Kathryn’s time revolves around eggs…

On most Saturday (and sometimes Sunday!) mornings, Kathryn catches up on Bravo while Michael makes breakfast.

The best days are egg sandwich days.
